DIY Whipped Shaving Cream

  • 3/4 cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/3 cup Avocado Oil
  • 3/4 cup Shea Butter
  • Essential oils

Step 1. In a double boiler* melt coconut oil and shea butter on medium heat until melted. Promptly remove from the heat and add two tablespoons of Avocado oil. Whisk together and place in the fridge to cool.

Step 2. Cool in refrigerator until mixture is the consistency of soft butter. Then remove from the fridge and using a hand mixer whip for 3-5 minutes or until stiff peaks form.

Step 3. Add 20-25 drops of essential oils to the mixture. (We divided the Woodsy Kit up making equal drops of Cedarwood and Fir and then adding less Frankincense.) Whip using the hand mixer for one to two minutes. Store shaving cream in an airtight container and in a cool place.*

Step 4. Ready to go for a clean and great smelling shave!

*To assemble a double boiler, fill a medium pot with a few inches of water. Place on the stove over high heat and place a glass bowl on top of the pot. The bottom of the glass bowl should not be touching the top of the water – if it is, then your water level is too high and you need to pour some out. Bring the water to a simmer, and it will gently melt your ingredients that are in the glass bowl.*

NOTE: This shaving cream does not lather and since it is made with oil, it will melt on your skin when you apply it. I promise it works amazing, but don’t expect it to stay in it’s whipped consistency once it’s rubbed onto warm skin.

After Shave

  • ½ cup Witch Hazel
  • 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 2 Tbsp. Aloe Vera Gel
  • 15-20 drops Essential Oils

  1. Pour all ingredients into a dark amber bottle (if necessary, use a small funnel or scoop) The darker bottle will preserve the oils longer.
  2. Shake well to combine. Replace with spray cap.
  3. Your DIY Aftershave is ready to gift to some lucky smooth-faced guy!
